Lojong Ladrang - For 27 years, the financial needs of our Order
and its predecessor were almost exclusively provided for by the efforts
of Dharmacharya Gurudas Sunyatananda. In fact, during the 80s and 90s,
the Servant-Father's pioneering work in the fields of online marketing
and direct sales resulted in his financially supporting six monastic
houses and the needs of more than 54 contemplative monks.
Since November 2007, the Servant-Father has been unable to work due
to the accident, which resulted in his shattering his right arm. The
accident was caused by serious neurological deterioration, which has
left our spiritual director completely disabled.
The potential exists right now, if these needs are not met, that
our venerable spiritual director will be evicted and may become homeless,
since there is no other means of covering these expenses at this time.
Any assistance and support you can offer will make it possible for
us to move the Servant-Father out of the inadequate and unhealthy conditions
in which he is currently residing, and into a healthier environment.

501(c)3 - Over the past 29 years, we've been diligent
and careful to ensure that all of our funding needs were taken care
of, without having to turn to public corporations. The reason for this
was to eliminate the need for us to become a government registered religious
institution. We fundamentally believe that religious institutions should
be free to operate without government regulation or interference, and
having to get a 501(c)3 feels like we're crossing that line a bit. However,
there is no way for us to continue our work in the United States without
a 501(c)3, so that we can apply for various grants and other funding.
We therefore need to find a benefactor or benefactors willing to underwrite
the $700 total cost for the incorporation, and non-profit application,
etc.
Karuna House - We have an opportunity to save a
piece of history, and use that property to provide a home, food and
shelter for five to seven disabled people, and a foster home to more
than 14 pets. An historic log home, built before the U.S. Revolutionary
War, which has fallen into considerable disrepair, due to illness and
the disability of its residents. They have agreed to provide the Order
with the property, if we can secure the donations to partially restore
the old log homestead, and expand it to provide affordable green housing
for up to seven disabled persons.
This would give us an opportunity to get the Karuna House
mission up and running. The total funds needed to restore the property
is $185,000 U.S. Corporate sponsorships and donations would be gratefully
received. The property would be self-sustaining from that point forward.
