Update from Lojong Ladrang – 7 March 2010

On Monday, March 15th, Khenpo Gurudas Sunyatananda will undergo the second extensive reconstructive and reparative surgery on his right arm. As many of you know, he lost the use of that arm following a Parkinson’s-related accident in November 2007, and has experienced  tremendous pain since.

The doctors have advised our beloved abbot that this surgery represents a significant risk for him, due to his medical condition, but because several of the eighteen screws that have been previously holding his arm stable are now loose, and the arm is still broken, Khenpo believes the risk is justified.

We are asking all of Khenpo Gurudas’ students and disciples to join us on that day, as we perform the ancient Medicine Buddha puja. You can join us at home, by listening or chanting the Medicine Buddha Mantra, which I have included below.

Our prayers for a swift recovery, freedom from pain and long life for our teacher and Guru are with Khenpo and we continue to look with hope toward a means of financially supporting the Servant-Father, whose health has been severely impacted by the loss of benefactors (due to the present economic crisis in our society, and due to some of the libelous attacks launched against the abbot by hateful individuals and groups, who are threatened by his inclusive, non-sectarian and non-institutional teaching.) Keep us in your thoughts.

Shanti! Shanti! Shanti!
